
Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager has the primary responsibility for the overall supervision of the engagement in accordance with the standards of the Firm, BPS Division, and the profession as expressed in official professional pronouncements. Under the direction of the Accounting Unit Head, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient execution of the engagement, client satisfaction, and the development and retention of high-performing staff.
Responsibilities- Engagement Management: supervise planning and scheduling of work, prepare estimated time budgets and staffing requirements, lead engagement planning and risk assessment meetings, review engagement plans with understanding of client business, industry, accounting policies, and applicable laws, coordinate kick-off with client, maintain technical knowledge of accounting systems, ensure execution of the engagement plan in line with quality standards, review subordinates' work, monitor time charges and address overruns, keep client informed, obtain and act on client feedback, resolve issues with the Accounting Unit Head, supervise staff, review working papers and reports, revise work programs as needed, ensure timely approvals for overtime, ensure internal deadlines for quality reviews, release error-free reports, provide status updates, discuss client issues, ensure regulatory deadlines, complete archiving, obtain client feedback, facilitate performance appraisals, and adapt to changing needs while maintaining ethical standards.
- Relationship Management: promote the Firm's image through high-quality client service, establish and maintain relationships with client personnel and internal teams, build rapport through regular meetings, keep clients informed of developments affecting their business, be available for client queries, provide timely advice within the Firm's competencies, collaborate with team members, participate in Firm activities, maintain a positive can-do attitude.
- People Management: provide on-the-job training, motivate and guide staff, give timely performance feedback, participate in annual performance reviews, be available for mentoring and coaching, participate in staff recruitment for Manager II and above.
- Professional Development: identify and attend relevant seminars, engage in professional development and technical skill enhancement, participate in internal/external audits, coordinate with personnel on development plans and mentoring, pursue required certifications and mentoring activities.
- Practice Development: inform leadership of potential engagements, contribute to revenue development, attend client meetings, determine staffing and costing, report pursuit status, suggest process improvements, assist in marketing materials, and present services to clients as needed.
- Administrative Functions: ensure timely client billing and collections, review professional fees and scope changes, bill for out-of-scope work, review expenses and overtime, manage WIP, create and close client codes, assign engagement workloads, maintain working files securely, approve time reports promptly, comply with administrative processes, propose improvements, and maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
- Certified Public Accountant
- At least six (6) years of relevant work experience
