An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior C++ developer to help implement the software platform for a new digital asset exchange; focused on an institutional client base. The ideal applicant will bring previous experience of developing scalable mission critical financial systems, working with global teams, ensuring best practices, and staying within agreed project timelines.

As a Senior C++ Developer, you will make recommendations for tools, maintenance, and testing strategies and assist with creating a maintainable application landscape alongside other Developers, Leads, and Architects.

Responsibilities

The Senior C++ Developer is expected to significantly impact and drive the software development function by developing and maintaining applications that map our current business requirements to end-to-end technology solutions.

Key accountabilities include:

  1. Analyse, design, develop, test, and deploy applications with a clean-code approach;
  2. Research new technologies, multi-tasking on multiple projects with other team members;
  3. Follow software development processes and coding conventions, using Agile/SCRUM principles and working closely with other team members, Leads, Scrum Masters, Architects, and Testers;
  4. Break down detailed specifications and implement technical requirements based upon the needs of the company and its clients;
  5. Troubleshoot issues in a timely manner in a highly scalable development environment;
  6. Contribute ideas to improve process and development practices;
  7. Join all required SCRUM meetings with stakeholders and product/business owners, ensuring all relevant information to the team and project are shared and discussed;
  8. Support and coordinate with other team members and our clients.
Qualifications

The Senior C++ Developer should have excellent technical knowledge in analysing, developing, testing, and deploying solutions and their experience should include the following:

  1. The ideal candidate will have a degree relevant to Information Technology/Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
  2. Proven success and expertise in developing innovative solutions and proof-of-concepts both internally and externally;
  3. Proven experience estimating, scoping, and writing effective statements of work that clearly set expectations and limit risk for development tasks in tandem with the Development Leads, Architects, and Scrum Masters;
  4. Proven experience producing well designed, testable, efficient code using best software development practices;
  5. Excellent technical knowledge in developing solutions using Microservices and C++ 14/17 with Boost libraries;
  6. Excellent technical knowledge using ultra-low latency networking and Linux OS;
  7. Excellent technical knowledge in developing solutions with Messaging architecture (ZeroMQ/Pub/Sub/WebSockets);
  8. Excellent technical knowledge in developing solutions with mySQL or equivalent, and Time Series databases;
  9. Knowledge in developing solutions with containerized technologies (Docker/Kubernetes) and understanding of CI/CD and DevOps secure practices;
  10. Knowledge of Cloud and in particular AWS, ideally with experience in banking/fintech sectors and industries;
  11. Demonstrated capabilities in developing an understanding of the customer business value associated with the deployment of modern financial productivity, system-to-system, and end-user applications;
  12. Proven experience working within a software development team, mentoring and offering advice, having passion about development, and engendering a collective mentality;
  13. Excellent communication and documentation skills;
  14. Excellent English language skills (both spoken and written).

It would be nice to have additional technical understanding in the following areas:

  1. Has previously worked in the financial service industry and has experience with capital markets and trading software solutions;
  2. Understanding of application architecture including the use of cloud-based technology capabilities such as AWS Blockchain/Lambda/Beanstalk/Serverless, Application Life Cycle Management and Application Platform processes and technology capabilities, Data and DB Management using noSQL/MySQL, Caching, and application middleware architectures.
