Senior Accountant

Leads key aspects of the local captive finance operation's general accounting and statutory financial reporting processes. Utilizing a strong background in financial management, financial reporting and planning, with proficiency in handling financial operations in a rapidly growing organization, preparation, analysis and review of financial statements in accordance with NAIC Statutory Accounting standards. Assists with external review and audit coordination and SOX compliance efforts.

What you will do:

  • As subject matter expert, utilizing experience, research and resolve unique, complex and escalated accounting problems, oversee financial functions, streamline processes, and support strategic decisions.
  • Leads maintenance of the general ledger including journal entries, account reconciliations and key aspects of the month end close across all accounting bases.
  • Leads preparation, analysis and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local accounting standards and regulations (e.g., PFRS).
  • Lead the budgeting process, working closely with Corporate Finance and various departments to create realistic budgets and forecasts. Analyze variances and provide explanations to ensure proper alignment with business goals.
  • Leads aspects of the coordination of audit and review processes, working closely with internal and external auditors.
  • Leads the design and implementation of internal controls pertaining to accounting and financial reporting processes to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations under the guidance of the Internal Audit team.
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including the management of intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor cash flow, ensure sufficient working capital, and make recommendations to optimize liquidity while managing financial risks.
  • Lead, mentor, and train finance staff, ensuring efficient workflow and professional development. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or any related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in finance or accounting. Prior experience in a captive or startup company is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with Philippine financial regulations, tax laws, and PFRS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial modelling skills. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve effectively.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to concentrate, talk and hear. This role is regularly required to type, reach with hands and arms, sit for long periods of time, read, write, listen, verbally communicate, present information, respond to questions, problem solve, concentrate and tolerate stress.
