Main Job Description with Duties & Responsibilities:

The main functions of the Raw Material Specialist are:

1. To review existing raw material technical and operational processes and establish raw material quality and food safety standards, specifications, and procedures.
2. To create implementation and process turnover activities for material quality and food safety verification procedures.
3. To determine the effectiveness of the quality and food safety system through analyzing and evaluating results of performed verification procedures.
4. To ensure continuous improvement of the quality and food safety systems in alignment with business, operational, departmental, and food safety objectives.
5. To stay abreast of current trends in technologies and innovations related to raw materials.

Duties:

1. Have knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), relevant quality and food safety checks, and production processes of sauces in bottles and flexible pouches, dry blend mixes, fruit syrups, rice kits, geli-coolers, mung bean soup mix, and other product categories. Document and establish raw materials quality and food safety descriptions, standards, specifications, and/or handling procedures that are compatible with the required monitoring and implementation of operation's process users.
2. Be equipped with knowledge of Statistical Process Control tools and actively participate in any product development standardization and raw material improvement projects in operations. Standardize and establish raw materials quality and food safety procedures, standards, and specifications for the reference of the quality laboratory and operations.
3. Evaluate new and alternative materials ensuring compliance with set parameters and standards, guided by applicable established raw material descriptions and mandatory technical document requirements to suppliers. Communicate any changes in raw materials standards and specifications to concerned functions.
4. Perform risk assessment and hazard identification for raw materials, in reference to applicable regulatory, statutory, and organizational standards, having knowledge of HACCP and FSSC 22000 requirements.
5. Design and conduct training and/or transfer knowledge and technical know-how. Plan and implement effective handshake activities, seminars, and/or training for any established raw materials standards, specifications, and/or procedures.
6. Implement monitoring and verification activities for any established raw material quality and food safety standards, specifications, and procedures, being aware of the requirements of the established Food Safety Management System. This includes review of raw material internal and external test results, review of supplier documents and certifications, onsite standard and procedure verification, etc.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Food Science.
At least 2 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry, specifically in establishing standard procedures and reference specifications that ensure high-quality control product and/or process outputs.
Knowledge of different quality assurance and quality control processes and prerequisite program requirements in a food manufacturing setup with food safety objectives. Knowledge of HACCP and FSSC requirements is a plus.
Detail-oriented with a passion for continuous learning and acquiring knowledge, exceptional leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills, integrity, and professional ethics, along with solid analytical and decision-making skills.

Required Certifications or Special Skills:
Knowledgeable in MS applications.
Average to superb documentation skills.
