Job Summary

The IT and Network Specialist 2 will oversee after-hours server updates, maintenance, and monitoring for our managed service provider (MSP) clients. This role ensures smooth overnight operations by handling alerts, troubleshooting critical issues, and performing scheduled system maintenance to prevent downtime.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and respond to system alerts, incidents, and outages in real time.
  2. Perform scheduled server updates, patches, and maintenance activities.
  3. Troubleshoot network, server, and application issues to ensure uptime.
  4. Escalate critical incidents to senior engineers or on-call staff as needed.
  5. Document all maintenance and incident responses in ticketing systems.
  6. Perform security audits and compliance checks during maintenance windows.
  7. Maintain and optimize remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
  8. Assist in disaster recovery planning and backup validation/issue resolution.
  9. Provide after-hours support for client inquiries and emergency requests.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Previous experience with ticketing systems is required.
  2. Experience with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) software is required.
  3. Experience performing server upgrades, patches, and handling escalations for network outages and events.
  4. Experience using Nextiva VoIP softphone to contact and communicate with customers as needed.
  5. Strong troubleshooting and incident resolution skills.
  6. Ability to handle critical events and escalations in real-time.
  7. Must have a stable internet connection and reliable power for remote work; on-site work may be required if conditions aren't met.
  8. Available to work 8 AM - 5 PM PH hours (to cover ET overnight server maintenance).

Screening Criteria

  1. Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  2. At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a Technical Support, Service Desk or NOC support role.
  3. Must have a stable employment history.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Experience using the Remote Management tool Ninja is a plus but not mandatory.
  2. Halo PSA ticketing system experience is preferred but not required as long as the candidate has worked with other ticketing software.
