
Ophthalmic Nurse

Performs and/or assists in the performance of tasks such as but not limited to the following:
Assesses patient's general medical and eye condition, obtains complete patient history, provides information to the patient about the procedure and expected benefits and risks, and gives proper instructions to patients prior to the procedure.
Prepares patients for ophthalmology examination by dilating pupils, measuring visual acuity and/ or color vision, skin testing, and checking blood pressure as prescribed by licensed physician
Administers medications, treatments and intravenous fluorescein dye as ordered by the licensed physician.
Performs all ophthalmology diagnostic procedures except those that must be performed by the ophthalmologist; assists ophthalmologist during laser treatment procedures.
Prepares supplies, instruments and documents prior to surgery; assists patients in preparation to the surgery.
Assists surgical team and carries out doctor's orders during eye surgery.
Carries out postoperative care management and provides discharge instruction to patient.
Coordinates with doctors and/ or other units the patient's condition as needed.
Prepares patient's record; encodes patient information, charges the procedures and prepares results.
Ensures that all equipment and accessories are functioning properly and the materials and supplies needed in the procedure and surgery are available.
- Adheres to proper safety precautions and infection and prevention control
- Ensures confidentiality and security of data, compliant with the requirements of the patient privacy or confidentiality act.
- Performs other responsibilities that may be assigned by Senior Ophthalmic Staff, Head of the Department and Hospital Finance and Operations Staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, board passer
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience; Training in ophthalmic procedures
- Technical skills, Clerical skills; Communication & Organizational skills
- Proactive; Team Player; Attentive to Details
- One (1) Full-Time position available
- Can start ASAP
