Overview

The Offshore Instructor for Banksman & Slinger Training is responsible for delivering high-quality training and assessment in line with OPITO standards and industry best practices. The role ensures that learners are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competence to perform safe and effective lifting operations offshore. This position requires strong technical expertise, offshore experience, and the ability to facilitate engaging and effective training sessions.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marine, Technical, or related field preferred)

Certifications:

  • OPITO-certified Banksman & Slinger Competence Level 3 or 4
  • Train-the-Trainer Qualification (any of the following): IMO Model Course 6.09 Certificate (Training Course for Instructors); OPITO-approved Train the Trainer; or Equivalent Instructional Techniques Qualification
  • Assessor Qualification (any of the following): IMO Model Course 3.12 Certificate (Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers); OPITO-approved Competence Assessor; or Equivalent qualification

Work Experience:

  • Proven instructing/teaching experience
  • Offshore lifting operations experience as a qualified Banksman & Slinger
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver Banksman & Slinger training programs in accordance with OPITO standards and company procedures.
  • Conduct learner assessments, ensuring competence requirements are met.
  • Prepare, develop, and update training materials, lesson plans, and course content, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OPITO accreditation requirements, company policies, and industry regulations.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and mentoring to learners to support learning and competence development.
  • Maintain accurate training and assessment records in line with QMS and OPITO requirements.
  • Participate in internal audits, course reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold high standards of safety, professionalism, and integrity in training delivery.
