Position Summary:

The Chief Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of Crimson Filinvest City Manila. This position is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support informed decision-making. The Chief Accountant ensures compliance with financial regulations, implements internal controls to safeguard company assets, and manages day-to-day accounting operations to maintain accuracy and transparency in financial records.

Scopes and Responsibilities:

  1. Prioritizes financial accuracy, compliance, and the satisfaction of both internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Strives for excellence by ensuring timely and precise financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  3. Actively collaborates with department heads and leadership to understand financial needs and provide insightful recommendations.
  4. Demonstrates a proactive approach in anticipating financial risks and implementing effective controls to safeguard company assets.
  5. Fosters a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability within the Finance team.
  6. Takes ownership of financial concerns and ensures prompt, data-driven resolutions to support smooth hotel operations.
  7. Leads by example, inspiring the team to uphold the highest standards of financial management and service excellence.
  8. Recognizes and values the contributions of the Finance team, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.
  9. Develops and Maintains Financial Plans and Budgets: Formulates comprehensive financial plans, annual budgets, and periodic forecasts to support the hotel's operational and strategic goals, ensuring alignment with revenue targets and cost control measures.
  10. Prepares and Analyzes Financial Statements and Reports: Generates accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Conducts in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  11. Manages Cash Flow, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable: Ensures effective cash flow management by monitoring receivables, payables, and liquidity levels. Implements strategies to optimize working capital while maintaining strong financial health.
  12. Conducts Financial Analysis and Provides Strategic Insights: Evaluates financial data to support hotel leadership in making informed business decisions. Identifies cost-saving opportunities, revenue enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  13. Implements and Maintains Internal Controls and Procedures: Establishes robust internal controls to safeguard the hotel's financial assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with hotel policies and industry regulations. Regularly reviews and updates financial procedures.
  14. Coordinates with External Auditors and Regulatory Agencies: Manages audits and liaises with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with local laws, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
  15. Provides Leadership and Guidance to the Finance Team: Leads, mentors, and develops the finance team to maintain high performance and efficiency. Fosters a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  16. Collaborates with Other Departments on Financial Planning and Budgeting: Works closely with department heads to develop and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with the hotel's financial goals and operational needs. Provides financial insights to optimize resource allocation and cost efficiency.
  17. Supports Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives: Provides financial expertise for hotel expansion plans, capital expenditures, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue-enhancing projects. Ensures financial feasibility and compliance in all initiatives.
  18. Participates in Cross-Functional Teams: Works alongside various hotel departments, such as Sales, Operations, and Procurement, to offer financial insights that drive profitability and operational efficiency.
  19. Assists in the Implementation of New Financial Systems and Processes: Supports the integration of upgraded financial software, automated reporting tools, and process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in financial operations.
  20. Conducts Ad-Hoc Financial Research and Analysis: Performs financial modeling, scenario analysis, and market research as needed to support business strategies and investment decisions.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting or Financial Management).
  2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
  3. Master's Degree (MBA or Masters in Finance/Accounting) is an advantage but not always required.
  4. Certifications in Hotel Financial Management (e.g., Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) or Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA)) are a plus.
  5. Extensive knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and local tax regulations applicable to the hospitality industry.
  6. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  7. At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role, overseeing financial operations, reporting, and compliance in a hotel or resort setting.
  8. Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support hotel operations and strategic decision-making.
  9. Strong background in financial reporting and compliance, including knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and local tax regulations relevant to the hospitality sector.
  10. Experience in managing audits, coordinating with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
  11. Proficiency in cost control, revenue management, and financial risk assessment to enhance hotel profitability and operational efficiency.
  12. Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop finance team members in a high-performance environment.
