Job Title: Inventory Clerk

Job Summary:

An Inventory Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining the stock levels of goods, materials, or products within a warehouse, storage facility, or retail environment. They perform a variety of tasks to ensure the accurate tracking, storage, and movement of inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receive, count, and verify incoming shipments and compare them with purchase orders.
  2. Record and update inventory data in the system to track stock levels and movements.
  3. Organize inventory storage, ensuring items are stored in proper locations and conditions.
  4. Perform regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
  5. Prepare and process inventory transfers, shipments, and returns.
  6. Assist with inventory audits and investigations into discrepancies.
  7. Monitor stock levels and order products or materials as necessary to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  8. Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and other departments to resolve inventory-related issues.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory areas.
  10. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements

Education

- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certifications, such as in logistics or inventory management).

Experience

- Previous experience in inventory management, warehouse, retail, or logistics roles is preferred.

- Familiarity with inventory tracking systems and software is a plus.

Skills

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and recording inventory.

- Good organizational skills to ensure proper storage and easy retrieval of items.

- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction).

- Proficiency in using computer systems and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).

- Basic knowledge of supply chain and logistics practices.

Physical Abilities

- Ability to lift and move products, sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs or more.

- Comfort with standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.

- Manual dexterity to handle various products and tools in inventory management.

Communication Skills

- Ability to clearly communicate with team members, vendors, and supervisors.

- Strong written communication skills for creating accurate reports and inventory records.
