US Senior Accountant

Location: Clark - Remote
Shift: 9PM - 6AM, Monday to Friday
Arrangement: Remote

About this role

An experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and perform general accounting operations for our clients. We welcome another fun, caring, determined individual who can get down to business while having a positive attitude and sense of humor (bonus points if you like accounting puns).

  • Perform month-end close tasks using Karbon, a Practice Management software
    • Collect and organize client information related to the close
    • Categorize bank feed transactions
    • Own the month end Balance Sheet reconciliations and schedules
    • Create journal entries
    • Prepare and maintain work papers
    • Create and send financial reports
  • Execute on timelines set for internal and external tasks and projects.
  • Continuous improvement of client processes and internal processes.
  • Utilize Karbon to help improve operational excellence.
  • Assist with tax preparation (to external tax CPA), filing sales & use tax when required.
  • Support internal and client month/year-end close processes.
  • Review and audit client accounts and processes.
  • Manage client accounts payable process with support of Assistant Accountant.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls (written and video documentation).
  • Liaise with client relations and operations team to ensure client expectations are understood, communicated and being met.
  • Communicate with clients regarding monthly closes and monthly bookkeeping inquiries.

About you

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role.
  • 5+ years of experience using Quickbooks Online (QB Desktop experience a plus)
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience cleaning-up prior periods, including correcting bank reconciliations, AP & AR payment application & balances, Loan balance corrections, and Chart of Accounts changes.
    • Experience integrating, mapping, and troubleshooting 3rd party apps.
    • Experience processing 1099s via QBO online or another platform.
  • Accounts Payable Expert
    • Experience processing A/P for businesses with inventory / manufacturing processes.
    • Comfortable with purchase orders, goods receipts and reaching out to purchasers to resolve discrepancies / issues.
    • Experience using AP tools such as QBO Bill Pay, Ramp, Bill.com and or Settle.
  • Tech Savvy
    • Understands data sets and how financial data flows across multiple systems.
    • Excellent Excel skills: pivot tables are essential, Power Query is ideal, Power BI is even better.
    • Is an early AI adopter.
  • Experience working in some (all would be great) of these industries:
    • Consumer Packaged Goods
    • E-commerce
    • Manufacturing
  • Payroll experience (understanding of payroll processing, tax returns, and journal entry posting).
  • Sales tax experience.
  • Inventory experience
    • Experience using inventory management systems such as Cin 7 / Dear, Fishbowl, or other ERP / MRPs.
    • Understanding of periodic inventory methodology and COGS recognition.
    • Understanding of perpetual inventory systems and the relation to the accounting cycle.
  • Familiarity with various online marketplaces and platforms: Shopify, Amazon, Faire etc.
  • Great understanding of accrual accounting is essential.
  • Can build a balance sheet schedule.
  • Experience working in/with startups and small, growing companies.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed - we're a nimble team, everyone takes pride in their work.

  • Great communication skills via email, phone and chat.
  • Ability to work and learn remotely.
