Chong Hua Hospital is looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Database Administrator who is responsible for the daily management, maintenance, and monitoring of the organization's databases. This role involves supporting senior database administrators in ensuring data availability, security, integrity, and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in database management, a foundational understanding of SQL, and a desire to grow their technical skills in database administration.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers database-management software and related utilities.
  • Determining and setting critical thresholds for disk, table spaces, extents, and fragmentation.
  • Understanding and employing the optimal flexible architecture to ease administration, allow flexibility in managing I/O, and to increase the capability to scale the system.
  • Determining and implementing the backup/recovery plan for each database while in development and as the application moves through test and onto production.
  • Participates in the creation of or recommends updates and changes in the policies and procedures to continuously improve the quality of service in the unit/area.
  • Implement and manage robust database backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Ensure database systems are secure, managing encryption, user permissions, and access controls.
  • Conduct regular database security audits and implement recommendations to enhance data protection.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies, ensuring seamless recovery in case of data loss or corruption.
  • Participate in regular testing of failover and business continuity plans.
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize production databases (SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, etc.) across various platforms.
  • Monitor database performance and take proactive measures to ensure stability, reliability, and scalability.
  • Identify and troubleshoot database performance issues, query optimization, and system bottlenecks.
  • Oversees the development and placement of safety strategies and continuous quality improvement of service initiatives in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess at least a bachelor's degree in engineering (Computer/Telecommunications), Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of work experience in IT-related disciplines, such as, but not limited to:
  1. Database administration - database installation, configuration, maintenance, synchronization, and performance tuning e.g. Sybase, Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL (SQL profiler proficient).
  2. Storage Technologies e.g. EMC2, HP, NetApp, etc.
  • Has experience in managing and maintaining data integrity/security, backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Knowledge of software implementation best practices.
  • Understands security standards, with knowledge of information accessibility guidelines and data protection practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws as they relate to technology issues.
  • Proactive and highly organized, with strong time management, analytical, and planning skills. Able to deliver high quality tools and applications within set timelines; customer service driven with a problem-resolution focus.
  • Ability to Identify and Align Technology and Industry Trends.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. of equipment unassisted.
  • Must possess a certificate of attendance in any enterprise RDMS technologies (MSSQL, Sybase, Oracle, etc.).
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic corporate office software, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Effective communication skills. Proficiency in the Visayan dialect and/or Tagalog is required; ability to communicate well in English is an advantage.
