Job Purpose:

The Corporate Affairs plays a crucial role in shaping and executing the organization's corporate and public affairs strategies. This position requires a strong understanding of government relations and public affairs, with a focus on agriculture and food industries and solid capabilities in relationship building and problem solving to safeguard the business in the market.

Key Responsibilities

Government Relations

1. Engage with government stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels to promote the company's objectives.
2. Monitor and analyze government policies and regulations that may impact the company's business.
3. Represent the organization at industry events and conferences.
4. Implement strategic policy on government relations and facilitate registration of projects with government agencies (where applicable).
5. Become a sourcing unit government liaison and support, e.g. trade facilitation for our access to portfolio, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and services across borders.
6. Crisis and issue management.
7. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and legal requirements, and provide guidance on government-related matters.

Change Management

1. Communicate organizational changes effectively and sensitively.
2. Develop and implement change management plans.
3. Provide support and guidance to employees during periods of change.

Internal and External Communications

1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets.
2. Draft press releases, media advisories, and other press materials.
3. Monitor media coverage and analyze media sentiment.
4. Respond to media inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
5. Coordinate media interviews and press conferences.
6. Take on market internal communications work as needed.

Crisis Communication

1. Develop and implement crisis communication plans.
2. Manage crisis situations, including media relations and internal communications.
3. Monitor social media and online forums for potential crises.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications or a related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in a public affairs or communications role.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
4. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
5. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
6. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
7. Mastering both local and international cultural sensitivity.
8. Experience with crisis communication.
9. Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the industry and the organization's business objectives is essential.
10. Knowledge of government processes, policies, and institutions, and an understanding of the political landscape.
11. Strategic Thinking: The ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies that align with the organization's goals.
12. Problem-Solving Skills: The capacity to identify and resolve communication challenges.
13. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities. Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
