Taguig, National Capital Region, Philippines Perfetti Van Melle Full time

This position is accountable for supporting regulatory activities and ensuring compliance of Perfetti Van Melle confectionery products (chewing gums, candies) with laws and technical standards applicable to Food Industry as well as Group's Policies.

Territories Involved: Far East markets (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand), Philippines and Japan, possible additional countries in Asia and other regions

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work within Group Regulatory Affairs to ensure the compliance of Company's products and labels with food law and technical standards, and other regulations applicable to toys, advertisements and Sustainability.
  • The role will work with different internal and external stakeholders (national authorities, trade associations, consultants and law firms, laboratories, RDQ, Marketing, Regulatory, Supply Chain etc.).

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and study food and labelling regulations and technical standards in addition to other legislation necessary to ensure the compliance of the Company's products and activities.
  • Prepare and issue Ingredients List and Nutrition Information (IL/NI) also using the Company's Regulatory Database.
  • Support RDQ by providing advice on additives, raw materials, ingredients, regulations, recipe compliance and feasibility.
  • Work closely with Marketing providing advice on projects, claims (including nutrition and health claims), labelling and advertisements.
  • Check and approve product labels.
  • Manage administrative activities with national authorities or other stakeholders for preparation and submission of documents for product registration.
  • Possible involvement with the trade associations.
  • Work on any other additional tasks necessary to manage the regulatory activities (data collection, impact assessment, preparation and submission of position statements with authorities, risk assessment, scientific documents evaluation etc.).
  • Possible involvement in handling the toys compliance.
  • Involvement and support in Sustainability topics (e.g. EPR, Green Claims, Waste Disposal, Recyclability, Single Use Plastics etc.).
  • Possible involvement in Advertisement assessment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in food technology/ food engineering/ biology & chemical.
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in regulatory affairs/ Quality/ R&D in multinational companies from the food industry.
  • Some expertise and experience in raw materials assessment, preparation of Ingredients List and Nutrition Information, Additives/ Ingredients limits and compliance.
  • Good knowledge of food laws with a specific focus on technical standards and food additives regulations and labelling requirements.
  • Strong interest in working with database, learning and studying various countries' food legislation and standards.
  • Interest in Sustainability topics.
  • Proficient in English and Chinese, possible knowledge of additional languages is welcomed.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Work in a Team, cooperate and communicate well across the company.
  • Good time management and project management skills.
  • High degree of flexibility, organized and detail-oriented.
  • Quick learner of new concepts in different areas.
  • Ability to analyze issues and recognize gaps in processes, can combine scientific knowledge with legal aspects.
  • Abilities to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to manage complexities and confidential information.
