CLIENT BACKGROUND Our client is a US-based CPA-led firm built for small business owners, providing clear, practical, and tax-smart financial solutions. They offer a full range of services including bookkeeping, tax, CFO advisory, quality of earnings, tax due diligence, and ASC 740 tailored to every stage of a business’s growth. Beyond compliance, they deliver actionable insights and proactive strategies, making them a trusted year-round partner rather than a once-a-year tax contact. Their approach is rooted in transparency, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring clients can focus on running and growing their businesses with confidence. This CPA firm is small, but mighty. They have grown significantly over the past 2 years while they have been around, and are up to 4 employees. You would be the first full-time tax hire, which is a big step for the firm and for the owner Joining a small firm like this will help you feel like you are helping grow the company instead of feeling like a part of a giant machine. It will also give you access to other areas of administrative work, client service, and new learning opportunities you may not get at a larger firm. ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Tax Accountant will be the firm’s first dedicated full-time tax hire and will play a central role in building the tax function. You’ll handle both business and individual returns, provide support to tax planning and strategy, and collaborate directly with the firm owner and US-based managers. During off-peak seasons, you’ll also assist with other accounting services or administrative projects that help streamline internal operations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and review US business and individual tax returns (approx. 75% business, 25% individual). Assist with tax planning and strategy, including scenario modeling and year-end analysis using CCH Access. Ensure accuracy and compliance with US federal and state tax laws. Communicate and collaborate directly with the firm owner and US-based part-time managers. Maintain organized and well-documented work papers in excel Help the firm streamline its tax workflow process by offering suggestions and implementing better processes. Assist with accounting or administrative work during the off-season Manage multiple engagements and deadlines with minimal supervision. Stay up to date with US tax updates and continuously look for ways to improve processes. Handle other assigned tasks as needed to support the team’s workflow. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. 3–5 years of hands-on tax preparation experience (individual and business returns) in a US-based firm. Business returns are a mix of Form 1120, 1120-S, and 1065. Experience with business returns that are at least in the $1m - $5m revenue range (could be larger) Experience with CCH Access required. Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and general accounting principles. Strong understanding of US tax concepts, compliance, and reporting. Willingness to research US tax laws to work through questions Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setup. Preferred: Experience with special allocations on K-1s for 1065 returns, tax capital basis tracking, and multi-state entities. Bonus: LDS member and/or LDS return missionary (not required). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Reliable, stable and high-speed internet A dedicated, private workspace that is free from distractions, ensuring confidentiality and optimal focus on tasks.
