Position Summary Lecturer (A8) – Permanent appointment at North-West University / Noordwes-Universiteit – Mafikeng Campus – Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. About the University North-West University – Capital City – Mafikeng – is the highest education institution in the region. NWU follows the principles of Employment Equity (EE) Act and applies the principles of the EE Act and NWU Employment Equity Plan. Job Description The candidate will be responsible for lecturing undergraduate Mathematics or Applied Mathematics modules, supervision of honours projects, and can also be expected to be involved in the development of new modules. Key Responsibilities Teaching of undergraduate students & honours modules. PhD studies and publication of papers in accredited journals. Involvement in departmental activities and committees. Community engagement projects; subject‑specific societies and external moderation. Minimum Requirements A master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Applied Mathematics, e.g., PDEs, Numerical Analysis, Dynamical Systems, Fractional Calculus, Financial Mathematics. A master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Mathematics, e.g., Algebra, Topology, Functional Analysis. A minimum of two (2) years undergraduate teaching experience. Key Functional / Technical Competencies Knowledge of LaTeX, Matlab, Word & Excel. Key Behavioural Competencies Teamwork Organisational Skills Communication Leadership Trustworthiness & Ethics (Academic integrity) Remuneration The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
