LifeBank Microfinance Foundation, Inc. (LBF) is a non-stock and non-profit organization engaged in micro-financing initiatives that advance comprehensive and sustainable development in rural and urban areas through integrated social services. We are a major catalyst in breaking the chains of poverty in the Philippines. LBF is backed by its two pillar programs: The Ikabuhi Microfinance Program (IMP) for financial services and the Sustainable Development Program (SDP) for social services. We are looking for one (1) Data Scientist for the Data Science Team at Brgy. Maria Clara, Iloilo City, Iloilo.

Job Description for Data Scientist:

• Collaborate with domain experts and stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into data science projects.
• Collaborate with data engineers by providing inputs on database design and data storage for continuous quality improvement of data pipelines to ensure data availability for analysis.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and outliers in the data.
• Preprocess data from various sources to ensure data quality, integrity, and appropriateness in machine learning models.
• Create data applications that employ supervised learning to develop and regularly update credit scoring models to assess the creditworthiness of microfinance clients.
• Segment clients based on demographic, behavioral, or other relevant variables, and assist in developing targeted promotional campaigns appropriate for specific customer segments.
• Utilize predictive modeling to forecast loan delinquencies, client attrition, portfolio performance, scholars performance, and implement early warning systems to detect potential issues.
• Plan and conduct sentiment analysis and topic modeling focused on the benefits from LBF services as experienced by its clients.
• Promote ethical data collection, usage, and sharing practices that prioritize client privacy and data security.
• Provide actionable recommendations through predictive and prescriptive analytics to reinforce decision-making across different business functions.

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (i.e., business analytics, statistics, mathematics) or with relevant training in data analytics.
• Proficiency in the use of analytic tools such as R, Python, and Excel.
• Familiarity with working with Relational and Non-Relational Databases.
• Experience in data cleaning and preprocessing with keen attention to details to spot anomalies or errors in data and ensure accuracy in reports.
• Strong statistical analysis skills, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and other statistical techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and find data-driven solutions.
• Ability to create compelling and insightful data visualizations and data stories to communicate findings effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills while working in a remote team environment.
• Strong commitment to ethical data collection, usage, and sharing practices, particularly in handling sensitive financial data of clients.
• Willingness to stay updated on emerging data analysis tools, technologies, and best practices, especially those relevant to the microfinance sector.
• Willingness to work remotely.
