Lighting Programmer (Architectural & Immersive Installations)

We are seeking a talented and technically proficient Lighting Programmer with expertise in DMX control systems to support the development and execution of architectural lighting projects and immersive art experiences. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of lighting protocols with a creative mindset to help bring dynamic, interactive environments to life.

Responsibilities
  • Program, test, and deploy DMX-based lighting systems for permanent and temporary architectural or artistic installations.
  • Collaborate closely with lighting designers, artists, and fabricators to achieve creative goals through light.
  • Integrate lighting with sensors, video, sound, and interactive technologies when applicable.
  • Configure control systems including DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and RDM for seamless and reliable operation.
  • Document systems, patch lists, and programming workflows for future maintenance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot lighting issues both on-site and remotely during pre-installation and post-deployment.
  • Participate in installation setup and support, sometimes including travel to site locations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience programming DMX lighting for architectural or experiential environments.
  • Proficiency with lighting consoles and/or software such as GrandMA, Chamsys, ETC EOS, or Lightjams.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting protocols (DMX512, RDM, Art-Net, sACN).
  • Familiarity with lighting fixture addressing, pixel mapping, and time-based lighting effects.
  • Ability to interpret lighting schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-discipline with designers and engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with media servers (e.g., TouchDesigner, Resolume, MadMapper) or interactive platforms.
  • Understanding of LED systems, architectural lighting fixtures, and power distribution.
  • Knowledge of permanent installation requirements, including IP-rated equipment and long-term reliability.
  • Creative flair and interest in immersive art, public installations, or experiential environments.
