Principal Duties and Responsibilities The Maintenance and Technical Development Superintendent is responsible for overseeing equipment installations, facility construction, maintenance programs, and technical upgrades to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations. The role manages cross-functional projects from planning to execution, integrating safety and quality frameworks, coordinating with contractors and suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of technical initiatives. Working closely with the Production, Engineering, and Quality teams, the Superintendent also drives continuous improvement in maintenance systems and plant reliability, implements cost-efficient maintenance strategies, and leads technical development initiatives that enhance equipment performance and operational capability. All maintenance and development activities are carried out in alignment with established safety, quality, and operational standards. Reporting to the DSI Manager, the Maintenance and Technical Development Superintendent’s responsibilities are listed but are not limited to the following: Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of plant machinery and utilities. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to prevent equipment downtime. Develop and implement maintenance improvement and reliability programs. Support technical development projects and process enhancements for greater efficiency. Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance documentation. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Build technical competencies within the maintenance team through training and mentoring. DUTIES & REPSONSIBILITIES: A. Maintenance Management Oversee the implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance. Ensure the continuous availability and efficiency of critical production equipment and utilities. Manage the inventory of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance tools to support uninterrupted operations. Monitor and analyze maintenance performance metrics (e.g., MTTR, MTBF, downtime) and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. Enforce strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations in all maintenance activities. B. Project Management Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of capital expenditure (CAPEX) and improvement projects. Develop comprehensive project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans. Coordinate closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and quality project delivery. Manage project risks, documentation, and adherence to technical and quality standards. Ensure all projects are completed within the approved budget, schedule, and defined scope while meeting operational and safety objectives. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management, project management, or a related engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial setting. Proven experience in implementing preventive and corrective maintenance systems, managing spare parts and consumables, and coordinating contractors and service providers to ensure reliable plant operations. COMPETENCIES: Knowledge: Strong understanding of maintenance engineering principles, reliability-centered maintenance, and asset management systems. In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems used in industrial or manufacturing operations. Familiarity with project management methodologies (planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management). Working knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations and compliance standards. Understanding of continuous improvement frameworks such as TPM, Lean, or Six Sigma. Awareness of CAPEX planning and cost control processes. Skills: Excellent leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and develop technical staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in root cause analysis and failure prevention. Proficient in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or other maintenance planning tools. Effective project planning, coordination, and execution skills across cross-functional teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for internal and external coordination.
