Senior Mechanical Engineer / Process Plants & Industrial Equipment Specialist

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop, engineer and commission mechanical systems for industrial process plants and heavy industrial equipment delivered to customers worldwide.

This is a remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere. However, international travel to factories and customer sites for engineering, inspections, testing, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and technical support is an essential and expected part of the role.

Your responsibilities

• Mechanical engineering and design of industrial process plants and equipment
• Engineering and design of pressure vessels, pressure autoclaves and tanks
• Design and specification of pumps, valves and industrial piping systems
• Performing mechanical engineering calculations and verifying designs against applicable requirements
• Structural steel design and strength calculations
• Design of moving mechanical equipment and material-handling systems
• Mechanical design of machinery incorporating structural steel and heavy mechanical components
• Developing 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Preparing engineering documentation, specifications, BOMs and technical documentation
• Selecting and specifying mechanical components, materials and industrial equipment
• Working with manufacturers, fabricators and suppliers throughout the production process
• Reviewing manufactured equipment and components for compliance with engineering requirements
• Supporting mechanical FAT and SAT activities
• Supporting and participating in manufacturing, installation and assembly of industrial equipment
• Commissioning and troubleshooting mechanical systems at customer sites internationally
• Identifying root causes of mechanical problems and developing practical corrective solutions
• Providing technical support to customers during installation, commissioning and operation
• Preparing clear mechanical engineering and project documentation
• Collaborating closely with automation, electrical and software engineers throughout the entire project

Although your normal workplace can be anywhere in the world, this is not a purely desk‑based engineering position. You must be willing and able to travel internationally and work directly with machinery, process equipment and industrial installations at factories and customer sites.

Mandatory documented professional experience

Applicants must have documented, hands‑on professional experience in the following areas:

• Industrial process plants
• Pressure vessels, pressure autoclaves and tanks
• Pumps, valves and industrial piping systems
• Structural steel design and strength calculations
• Moving mechanical equipment and material-handling systems
• Mechanical design of machinery incorporating structural steel
• Manufacturing and installation of industrial equipment

Candidates must have practical experience taking industrial equipment from engineering and calculations through detailed design, manufacturing and installation/commissioning.

General mechanical engineering experience without relevant industrial process plant and heavy equipment experience is not sufficient.

We are specifically looking for an engineer who understands the complete lifecycle of industrial mechanical equipment - not only the design phase, but also how equipment is manufactured, assembled, installed, commissioned and operated in a real industrial environment.

Documented project experience is essential

Candidates must be able to demonstrate actual industrial projects in which they were personally responsible for relevant mechanical engineering work.
