Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing our performance, scalability, and reliability as we grow our user base. Key Responsibilities Architectural Leadership: Provide high-level guidance and critical review of our backend architecture, data models, and API design to ensure robustness and scalability. Performance & Optimization: Analyze and recommend improvements for system scalability, security, and cost-efficiency across our infrastructure. Real-Time & Audio Expertise: Advise on the evolution of our core real-time messaging infrastructure and audio streaming/processing pipelines, ensuring best practices. Code & Quality Oversight: Conduct high-level code reviews on key pull requests, providing mentorship and ensuring code quality, system integrity, and knowledge transfer. Technology Strategy: Offer strategic guidance on technology stack selection and the integration of third-party services. Complex Problem-Solving: Act as a key thought partner to the founding team in troubleshooting and solving complex technical challenges. Time Commitment: Contribute 3-5 hours per week through a mix of scheduled video calls and asynchronous communication. What We're Looking For (You) Proven Expertise: A minimum of 7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience. Specialized Technical Mastery: Deep, hands‑on experience with real-time communication technologies (WebSockets, WebRTC) and audio processing is essential. Strategic Architect: A strategic thinker who excels at designing scalable systems, anticipating technical challenges, and making high‑impact architectural decisions. Exceptional Communicator: You can distill complex technical concepts into clear, concise advice for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Bonus Points (Ideal Background) Prior experience developing or architecting a messaging or communication app. A background in technical leadership (e.g., Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, VP of Engineering, or CTO). Compensation Structure: This is a part‑time, advisory role with a revenue‑sharing compensation model, not a fixed salary.
