About LATC Lenovo’s AI Technology Center (LATC) is the engine powering our hybrid‑AI vision. LATC builds world‑class AI platforms that scale across mobile, edge, and cloud, and deploy intelligent agents and foundation models in real‑world environments. Role Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Principal AI Architect to lead the technical direction and architecture of Lenovo’s next‑generation AI systems. The role drives innovation, mentors engineering teams, and ensures scalable, reliable, and high‑performance AI solutions that impact customers worldwide. Responsibilities System Architecture – Design and maintain the overall architecture of AI systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Model Expertise – Lead the design and implementation of large language, multimodal, and agentic models. Training & Fine‑tuning – Architect and oversee supervised fine‑tuning, LoRA, prompt tuning, and other model optimization techniques. Agent Design – Define intent understanding, task decomposition, planning, and tool calling for intelligent agents. Knowledge Management – Design robust vector databases, reranking models, and knowledge graphs. Output Optimization – Select sampling strategies that produce high‑quality, relevant, and coherent outputs. Technical Leadership – Mentor engineering teams, provide technical guidance, and drive AI innovation. Research Innovation – Stay abreast of AI research and translate breakthroughs into products. Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work closely with product, data science, and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver AI solutions. System Documentation – Create and maintain comprehensive AI architecture documentation. Required Qualifications Experience designing and shipping AI systems within product environments. Familiarity with Linux, Windows, or Android operating systems. Strong understanding of ML and deep learning fundamentals. Extensive experience with large language models and transformer architectures. Hands‑on experience with multimodal models. Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, or Kotlin. Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, LangChain, LangGraph, or Autogen. Strong knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and knowledge base management. Expertise in prompt engineering and optimization. Preferred Qualifications Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience with MLOps practices and deploying AI models to production. Contributions to open‑source AI projects. Publications in leading AI conferences or journals. Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence). The base salary range for this position in California is $250 k – $350 k. Bonus and commission may also apply.
