Overview Perception Software Engineer (C++) at Shield AI. As a senior member within the Hivemind perception team, you will contribute to the rapid design, development, integration, test, and deployment of extensible software solutions enabling GPS-denied navigation, computer vision, object detection & tracking, and sensor fusion on autonomous platforms. You will bring deep knowledge of optimal state estimation, computer vision, sensor integration, data fusion, statistical inference, and dynamics modeling, along with professional experience in modern C++ (11 or greater). What you\'ll do Enhance the perception capabilities offered in the Hivemind Software Development Kit (SDK) product Serve as the technical conscience of one or more core disciplines within the field of robot perception or localization Develop state-of-the-art algorithms for GPS-denied navigation, SLAM, object detection & tracking, and sensor fusion across multiple operational domains (air, land, maritime, space) Write production-quality C++ software deployed to high-reliability UASs, ensuring robustness, efficiency, and scalability Develop and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and system tests Lead design reviews to introduce new perception capabilities into the Hivemind SDK Create and enhance sensor models within a state-of-the-art simulation environment Elevate team performance by driving technical clarity and rigor in feature delivery Mentor peers and less experienced engineers to foster technical excellence Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, continuous development environment with emphasis on analysis and performance benchmarking Required Qualifications M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field; 2+ years of related experience with an M.S.; 0 years with a new Ph.D. graduate 3+ years of active software development experience in modern C++ (11 or above) Proven expertise in object-oriented software design principles Experience with robotics perception and localization algorithms and frameworks, including object detection/tracking, SLAM, state estimation (KF, EKF, UKF, factor graphs), and sensor fusion Strong Git and Linux development skills with modern practices (CI/CD, test-driven development) Proven track record of delivering high-quality software under accelerated delivery schedules Preferred Qualifications Experience with DO-178C or similar safety-critical software standards Experience modeling and integrating sensors (IMUs, barometers, magnetometers, RGB cameras, IR sensors, radars, lidars) with production software Strong technical leadership in product-oriented R&D for autonomy, aerospace, military, or robotics Compensation and Benefits Salary ranges: Eng 2: $131,000–$197,000; Senior: $160,000–$240,000; Staff: $187,000–$281,000; typical range $131,000–$281,000 per year. Pay within range listed plus bonus, benefits, and equity. Eligibility for benefits varies by employment type and location. Background checks and reference checks may apply.
