Overview

Job Role: Senior Front-End Developer (004 - 00302)

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Compensation range: up to 2,500 AUD / Month (Depends on the client assessment)

Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement; Full-Time; Remote

Who The Client Is: The client is a digital agency founded in 2010 that focuses on helping businesses define and measure success in the digital space. They drive outcomes such as sales, enquiries, downloads, and engagement while taking accountability for results and striving for continuous improvement.

We are looking for a Senior Front-end Developer with strong experience across WordPress, Shopify, and React-based builds. This role is focused on delivering high-quality front-end development with clean code, modern tooling, and best practices. You’ll be working closely with the lead developer, implementing complex builds and solving technical challenges as part of the team.

• Deliver work on time and reliably meet project deadlines.
• Be dependable and proactive in collaborating with the team.
• Develop custom WordPress themes (no page builders), using ACF and modular CSS/JS.
• Build custom Shopify themes and extend functionality as required.
• Deliver React-based front-end builds, including Gatsby for static and hybrid websites.
• Translate designs and requirements into maintainable, performant code.
• Apply advanced site optimisation techniques (Core Web Vitals, caching, lazy loading, image optimisation, etc).
• Ensure accessibility, responsive behaviour, and SEO best practices are consistently applied.
• Work with Git using a branch/pull request/merge workflow.
• Use modern toolchains (Webpack, Vite, Babel, npm/yarn) to improve development efficiency and code quality.
• Integrate and consume third-party APIs.
• Configure and implement advanced analytics and tracking solutions, including Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, with custom event tracking, data layer integrations, and conversion optimisation setups.
• Troubleshoot issues across front-end, WordPress, Shopify, React, and server environments.
• Implement animations and micro-interactions with performance and UX in mind.
• Keep up to date with modern front-end and CMS development practices.

• Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS (Flexbox, Grid), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Strong ability to hand-code solutions rather than rely heavily on plugins.
• Advanced experience with custom WordPress theme development and Shopify builds.
• Solid experience with React, including building projects in Gatsby or similar.
• Deep understanding of ACF and WordPress customisation best practices.
• Proficient with CSS pre-processors like SCSS and building maintainable design systems.
• Experience with JavaScript tooling (Webpack, Vite, Babel, npm/yarn).
• Familiarity with Git workflows in a collaborative team environment.
• Proficiency in integrating APIs and handling asynchronous data.
• Skilled in optimising websites for speed, accessibility, and SEO.
• Comfortable troubleshooting server-related issues (LAMP/LEMP environments, hosting setups).
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
