CME Plant Superintendent

Job Title: CME Plant Superintendent Division: CME Manufacturing Plant Location: Cagayan De Oro Reports To: Plant Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview The Coconut Methyl Ester (CME) Plant Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, safety, efficiency, and compliance of Filoil Logistics Corporation’s CME production facility. This leadership role ensures that all plant operations—from production and maintenance to quality assurance and safety—are executed to meet corporate, regulatory, and environmental standards. The position plays a key role in optimizing plant performance, developing personnel, and maintaining product quality that aligns with Philippine National Standards (PNS/DOE QS 002:2021) for CME. The Superintendent will also be accountable for managing operational budgets, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and upholding Filoil’s culture of safety and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities 1. Plant Operations Management Supervise, coordinate, and control all day-to-day operations of the CME plant to ensure smooth, continuous, and efficient production. Ensure compliance with production targets, energy efficiency, and environmental performance metrics. Monitor plant utilities, including feedstock handling, transesterification, methanol recovery, and glycerin separation units. 2. Production Planning and Optimization Develop and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly production plans to meet volume, quality, and cost objectives. Optimize raw material utilization (e.g., coconut oil, methanol, catalyst) to minimize waste and enhance yield. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure consistent supply of raw materials and timely product dispatch. 3. Quality Assurance and Process Control Ensure the CME product meets PNS/DOE QS 002:2021 standards and internal quality benchmarks. Oversee laboratory testing protocols for feedstock, intermediates, and finished products. Implement corrective and preventive actions in coordination with QA and Technical teams. 4. Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance Enforce all plant safety, security, and environmental protocols in alignment with DOLE , DENR , and DOE regulations. Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits. Lead incident investigations and promote a “Zero Harm” safety culture across all plant levels. 5. Maintenance and Reliability Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for process and utility equipment (reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, storage tanks, distillation units). Coordinate with maintenance engineers for equipment calibration, repair, and performance monitoring. Minimize unplanned downtime and ensure high mechanical reliability of plant assets. 6. People and Performance Management Supervise and mentor plant engineers, operators, and technicians to ensure operational discipline and skill development. Conduct regular performance evaluations and coaching sessions. Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the plant workforce. 7. Financial and Operational Reporting Manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for process optimization. Analyze production KPIs (yield, energy usage, OEE, downtime) and recommend strategic improvements. Prepare and submit periodic operational reports to senior management. Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Manufacturing Engineering , or any related discipline.A valid Professional Engineer (PRC License) is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in chemical or biofuel plant operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role . Proven expertise in CME production , esterification/transesterification processes , or biodiesel refining . Familiarity with PLC/DCS-based control systems , P&ID interpretation , and process instrumentation . Technical Competencies: Deep understanding of chemical process engineering , plant commissioning , and unit operations . Knowledge of HSE management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) . Strong command of preventive maintenance programs , root cause analysis , and continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) . Leadership Competencies: Strong leadership and team management skills. Strategic thinking and decision-making under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration. High level of integrity, initiative, and accountability.
