This role interacts with several Apex teams, including Billing, Treasury, Operations, Compliance, and Technology. The Senior Accountant must be a critical thinker, analytical, energetic, and possess strong attention to detail. Specifically, the senior level individual is expected to manage larger and/or more complex daily tasks, independently solve complex problems on behalf of themselves and other team members, help recommend and implement ideas that improve the overall group performance, train other team members, and perform a supervisory review of internal control processes. Duties / Responsibilities Perform assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing and reporting processes. Estimate, analyze, and record month‑end expense accruals. Prepare reconciliations for assigned accounts. Proactively communicate daily status and elevate issues as needed. Handle other accounting duties as assigned. Examples: revenue analysis, fixed asset management, intercompany expenses, variance analysis. Prepare Cash forecast & analysis. Analyze & interpret accounting standards to ensure compliance with regulations. Implement new standards when necessary. Handle audit requests for financial statement audits. Actively cross‑train to provide back‑up coverage for team members. Solve complex operational problems and proactively determine and implement improvements to workflows and controls, minimize risk and manual workflows and reduce inefficiencies. Actively participate in firmwide and departmental projects and initiatives, occasionally acting as the lead. Serve as a back‑up and resource to department management and accounting staff for daily or ad‑hoc tasks. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or other related field (or equivalent work experience) required. 5+ years accounting experience; preferably in a similar role for a clearing or investment firm, proprietary trading firm, bank, or trust company. Public Accounting experience preferred. CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification preferred. Experience using NetSuite accounting software preferred. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent attention to detail, an exceptionally high degree of initiative and adaptability, and the ability to multitask. Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and the ability to communicate constructively within the department and the firm. Intermediate to advanced Excel abilities. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to work with numerous and conflicting deadlines. Ability to perform many complex and confidential tasks with speed and accuracy. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Work Environment This job operates in hybrid, office environment 2 days per week.
