Topcon Positioning is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of an Senior Backend Developer (Node.js) Work location : TOPCON Office located in Bologna (Italy) The job can be performed 100% remote (Italy) with visit to our Bologna office ONCE a week Job Purpose We’re building advanced digital platforms for automating construction and geospatial workflows — and we’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer (Node.js) to help us scale and evolve our core systems. This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who thrives in high-load, cloud-native environments and enjoys solving real-world technical challenges with Node.js , AWS , and a modern distributed stack. What You’ll Do Build and maintain scalable, resilient backend services using Node.js and TypeScript Contribute to the design and implementation of distributed systems handling high traffic and large datasets Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end product features Optimize cloud infrastructure performance and cost-efficiency in AWS environments Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following modern development best practices Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement of development workflows Work in a DevOps-friendly environment with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code What We’re Looking For University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. 8+ working experience in Software Development field . 4+ years of backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript Experience with cloud-native development, particularly using AWS services like ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, etc. Solid understanding of designing and maintaining high-load, scalable systems Familiarity with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes ), and microservices Experience working with NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) Practical knowledge of RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, and performance optimization English proficiency for communication in international teams and technical documentation Nice to Have Experience with CI/CD pipelines , monitoring tools, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi) Interest in edge computing , real-time processing , or geo-distributed systems Domain experience in construction tech , geospatial/GIS , or related industries Familiarity with frontend integration, GraphQL, or full-stack product understanding What You’ll Get Real technical challenges: high availability, large data volumes, and global user scale A flat, product-focused engineering culture where your ideas shape architecture and features Opportunity to work on tools that directly impact how physical infrastructure gets built in the real world Working Conditions We offer a hybrid and flexible work setup that promotes both in-person collaboration and individual focus: Office presence : One day per week at our Bologna office Remote work (Smart Working) : Available for the remaining days to support productivity and work-life balance We’d love to hear from you Please send us your application, and the earliest date you could join our team.
