Position Summary

The Foreign Exchange Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Foreign Exchange Department. This position is primarily responsible for closing foreign exchange transactions with Texas Regional Bank clients and with interbank counterparties, generating profit between the differences of these transactions. A high level of interaction with customers is required by providing superior quality customer service and a positive banking experience throughout. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with current customers as well as ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions. Understands how foreign exchange markets work and the relation between economic and political events. Must have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and must have strong verbal and written communication. Provides confidential administrative support to the department and must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and diplomacy regarding all Bank and constituent information.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Close Foreign Exchange transactions with clients telephonically.
• Close Foreign Exchange transactions with Interbank Counterparties telephonically or electronically.
• Confirm settlement information of client’s international wire transfer.
• Run client’s final beneficiary through OFAC lists.
• Maintain accurate details of each transaction.
• Provide daily income statements to directors.
• Follow up on requests from clients in a timely manner.

• Support and promote the Bank vision, mission and core values, organizational structure and policies and procedures.
• Must have excellent analysis, observation and decision-making skills.
• Highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with clients, officers and employees.
• Individual should be able to work under high pressure situations and a stressful atmosphere and then should remain composed.
• Provides a strong, compassionate and visible leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers and prospects.
• Comply with federal and state regulations as well as all established Bank policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bilingual in both English and Spanish, required.
• A self-starting individual who possesses a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Wire transfer experience is preferred.
• Experience managing multiple assignments/projects and conflicting priorities with the pressure of short, demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow complex, multi-step procedures to complete tasks.
• Basic office knowledge preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, 10-key and (multi-line) phone systems.
• Maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Detail-oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills.
• Must be able to be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.
