Overview A Retail Assistant plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining the store's appearance, and ensuring a smooth shopping experience. You will assist customers, manage inventory, and support the team in meeting sales targets. Responsibilities Customer Service Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner. Assist customers with product inquiries and recommendations. Handle complaints and provide solutions in a professional manner. Sales Support Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately. Promote and upsell products to meet sales goals. Participate in store promotions and events. Inventory Management Restock shelves and ensure products are displayed attractively. Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies. Assist with inventory replenishment and deliveries. Store Maintenance Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store. Ensure all promotional materials and signage are up-to-date. Follow health and safety guidelines. Team Collaboration Work closely with team members to achieve store objectives. Attend team meetings and training sessions. Support the onboarding of new staff when required. Experience Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred, but not always required. Communication Skills Strong verbal communication skills to engage with customers and colleagues effectively. Ability to listen attentively and address customer inquiries in a clear and friendly manner. Customer Service Orientation A passion for helping customers and providing a positive shopping experience. Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues calmly and professionally. Numeracy Skills Basic math skills for handling cash transactions, calculating change, and managing the register. Organizational Skills Ability to stay organized in a busy retail environment and manage tasks efficiently. Attention to detail, particularly when handling stock, products, and inventory. Physical Stamina Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights when required (e.g., restocking shelves). Flexibility Willingness to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as retail hours can fluctuate. Teamwork Ability to work well with others in a team environment and contribute to team goals. Tech-Savvy Basic knowledge of using point-of-sale (POS) systems, mobile payment options, and other retail-related technology.
