Responsibilities

  • Develop designs for ships, boats, submarines, and offshore structures, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and performance criteria.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, models, and blueprints.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to generate design schematics and simulations.
  • Perform stability analysis and hydrodynamic simulations to ensure vessel safety, efficiency, and performance.
  • Conduct stress and structural analysis to assess the strength and integrity of hulls and other components.
  • Ensure the materials used in the construction meet safety and durability standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop the propulsion, electrical, and control systems for ships.
Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Skills
  • Proficiency in CAD and other engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks).
  • Strong knowledge of marine systems, hydrodynamics, and structural mechanics.
  • Good understanding of environmental and safety regulations.
  • Project management skills, including budget management and scheduling.
  • Analytical skills for conducting simulations and stress tests.
Experience
  • Prior experience in the marine industry, whether in shipbuilding, ship design, or offshore structures, is highly beneficial.
Certifications
  • Some roles may require professional certifications, such as being a Chartered Engineer with relevant accreditation.
