Work Location : Remote Client : Multinational Work Schedule : Night Shift Job Overview As a Senior Shopify Backend Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and publishing Shopify apps both for internal use and client projects. You will leverage your deep understanding of the Shopify ecosystem, including Shopify APIs, Liquid templating, Postscript integration, and modern development frameworks like Remix. Your expertise will ensure scalable, efficient, and secure app development aligned with best practices. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain custom Shopify apps tailored to client needs and internal use. Build and publish apps on the Shopify App Store, managing the entire lifecycle from ideation to launch and maintenance. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, designers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. Utilize Shopify Liquid to customize storefronts and extend app functionality. Integrate third-party APIs and services (e.g., Postscript) to enhance app capabilities. Use Remix framework or similar technologies to build efficient and maintainable backend services. Write, maintain, and optimize Shopify Scripts and Script Editor code to customize checkout processes and promotions. Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and advocate for best practices in code quality, security, and performance. Stay up-to-date with Shopify ecosystem changes, new APIs, and app development trends to continually improve our offerings. Qualifications 5+ years of professional backend development experience, with a strong focus on Shopify platform development. Proven experience publishing Shopify apps on the Shopify App Store. Deep knowledge of Shopify ecosystem, including APIs, Liquid templating language, and app extensions. Strong proficiency in Remix or similar modern web frameworks. Experience with Shopify Scripts and checkout customizations. Familiarity with Postscript and other relevant Shopify marketing automation tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Reliable, strong communicator, and capable of leading development efforts and collaborating across teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail and quality. Preferred Experience working in an agile environment. Knowledge of frontend technologies (React, JavaScript, CSS) to collaborate effectively with frontend teams. Break down work into clearly estimated tasks and deliver according to those estimates, communicating early if scope or timing needs adjustment. Maintain accountability for commitments by ensuring deliverables meet agreed specifications before marking tasks as complete. Additional Qualifications Proven track record of working with transparency and integrity in a remote or hybrid environment. Strong organizational skills to manage workload without over- or under-reporting hours. Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to meet agreed-upon weekly output consistently.
