The project is a multi-year initiative to replace the legacy Unemployment Insurance system with a modern, integrated platform that improves services for the Department of Labor’s customers, partners, and staff. The engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud-native solutions, primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based systems aligned with security and operational best practices Build and deploy cloud-native applications using tools like Cloud Build and Cloud Deploy Engineer cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices Configure and manage core cloud services: IAM, networking, containers, logging, and OSs (Linux/Windows) Manage backups and restoration for VMs and CloudSQL databases Maintain compliance with centralized security policies, including firewalls and patch management Build and support CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing frameworks Create and maintain architecture diagrams and documentation Optimize cloud resource usage and cost-effectiveness Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues Mentor state developers in cloud technologies and processes Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into cloud solutions Follow Change Management processes and document updates as needed Qualifications:7+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure cloud systems 5+ years of experience using Terraform, scripting (Python or PowerShell), managing GCP services, Linux (Red Hat preferred), GKE clusters, and Windows/Linux server administration 3+ years of experience using CI/CD pipeline technologies 3+ years of experience working with GitHub repositories 2+ years of experience with Prisma Cloud, Tenable, and OS patching/upgrading Required Documentation:Resume Copy of Candidate Identification (e.g., Driver’s License, Green Card, Visa, Passport if applicable) Any documents referenced in the above Requested Qualifications (e.g., certifications, degrees, etc.) GDR is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
