Database Architect

Database Architect Location: Taguig, National Capital Region, Philippines The Role As a Database Architect, you will play a key role in supporting Willis Towers Watson’s client-facing products. These products include high-concurrency, highly transactional systems as well as big data systems with complex reporting and business intelligence requirements. You will evaluate and improve existing database structures and create evolutionary database models for current and future Willis Towers Watson products. Responsibilities Analyze product offerings and business requirements within the organization. Work with product development teams (engineering, product managers, analysts) to evaluate and identify solutions that meet business needs using industry best practices and creative design techniques. Work with the Senior Database Architect to define database architecture and communicate designs. Analyze existing data design and suggest performance, stability and interoperability improvements. Translate business requirements into good database design in collaboration with product management and subject‑matter experts. Provide database architecture leadership and mentor projects consisting of TW employees and outside contractors. Maintain the governance model on database architecture through training, design reviews, code reviews and progress reviews. Participate in the development of Database Architecture and Roadmaps to support business strategies. Establish and maintain database architecture standards and best practices. Participle in the evaluation of emerging technology and tools. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related experience. Strong experience with databases, tools and methodologies. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle. Experience with Azure technologies: Azure SQL, Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Spark, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Purview. Proficiency in Data Analysis, Data Modeling, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Lakehouse, Database Design, Big Data, In‑Memory, NoSQL. Experience with database performance evaluation and remediation. Develop strategies for data acquisition, archive recovery and implementation. Design and develop Databases, Data Warehouses and Multidimensional Databases. Python development experience (Python, PySpark, Spark, Notebook programming). SQL development experience (T‑SQL, Views, Stored Procedures, Indexes). Experience with browser‑based web applications delivered over the Internet that support high user concurrency. Experience working with large relational databases, big data, structured and unstructured data sets. Ability to develop database strategies for flexible, high‑performance reporting and business intelligence. Excellent verbal and writing skills, including the ability to research, design and write documentation. Functional knowledge in one or more of the following areas is a PLUS: Talent Management Systems, HR Self‑Service, HR Shared Services, HRIS/Payroll, Health & Welfare Administration or Pension Administration, HR Survey systems.
