Data Center Site Operations Engineer (ST Telemedia Global Data Centres) - Fairview, QC

Role overview: Manages and services large-scale 'in-country' data centre infrastructure and facilities to ensure 24x7 operations in rotating shifts. Proactive coordination and escalation related to site operational issues and client requirements, ensuring great customer experience while complying with STT GDC GDCO policies and standards.

  • Support and ensure smooth 24x7 running of the operations in the 'in-country' data centre.
  • Act as Level 1 escalation point by overseeing and resolving onsite operational incidents and major issues, responding and performing remote requests within SLA.
  • Understand M&E, security, network and plumbing systems of the building, critical facilities equipment, and other equipment associated with the DC environment.
  • Document and update requests on the internal web portal (tickets) such as user requests, incidents, provisioning, etc.
  • Implement best-in-class DC operations based on ITIL and industry practices.
  • Deliver ITIL compliance across incident, problem and change management.
  • Ensure effective implementations of safety, security and customer support policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and provide support to contractors and vendors; inspect completed work.
  • Plan and support preventive and reactive maintenance activities with minimal disruption to services.
  • Participate in internal and external audits for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Generate accurate and regular reports as required.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience in 24x7 DC or facility operations, or a fresh graduate with relevant qualifications (e.g., building services, mechanical engineering).
  • General knowledge of Network Critical Infrastructure.
  • Good knowledge of M&E and building facilities-related systems (CRACs, chillers, PDUs, UPS, switchgear operation, DX cooling, network cabling, security, etc.).
  • Meticulous team player with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Other Preferred Skills
  • Relevant facilities management or data centre certifications (ITIL, PMP, Uptime Institute, and TIA-942).
  • Familiar with certification standards (ISO 20000/22301/27001, 45001, 9001, Uptime Institute, TIA-942).
  • Good contractor management and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepared to be on 24x7 standby recall to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary.
