Design Delivery Principal

Job Summary The Design Delivery Principal is responsible for design decisions related to a portfolio of data center projects, including new construction, phased expansion, retrofits, upgrades, acquisition conversions, mechanical and electrical equipment selections, and standards upgrades in specific regions or globally. They apply Equinix standards and country‑specific regulations, manage key design partners and equipment suppliers, and critically assess and elevate design issues to ensure high quality outcomes. Responsibilities Lead the design process, interacting with architectural, mechanical and electrical partners (MEPs) to deliver world‑class data centers with technical excellence, resilience, and cost management. Own and review globally standardized tools, techniques and processes for the design process. Collaborate with regional peers to drive consistency, technical excellence and apply design and delivery practices across regions. Obtain site‑specific conditions, utilities, planning authority liaison and site logistics, and provide locally informed infrastructure design. Generate project visualizations, initial models and cost estimates for business case inception. Maintain relationships with internal technical staff, external design consulting partners, construction management, commercial management and regional P&L holders for stakeholder buy‑in. Directly manage design schedules, Basis of Designs, REIC submissions, issuance for permit and construction documentation. Oversee design budgets and cost controls during the construction phase in partnership with commercial management. Ensure designs meet Equinix’s Global Design Standards and business needs for capacity, density and function. Qualifications 7+ years experience in a Design MEP firm or in a mission‑critical building operator or subcontractor, OR 7+ years experience as an architectural lead in a mission‑critical architectural design practice, OR 7+ years in project management is preferred. MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or MSc in Architecture is preferred; BSc acceptable with extensive demonstrable experience. PE desirable but not essential.
