
Database Administrator

- Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on application design
- Design and implement database in accordance with end users' information
- Define, manage, and optimize database access (user/security maintenance)
- Implement backup configuration standards
- Establish a disaster recovery protocol
- Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
- Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
- Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
- Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution
Database Administrator Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong command of administration and support of Oracle,MSSQL, and any of open-source databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) are an added advantage
- Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
- PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills is an advantage
- Having experience with service management tools (Cherwell or Remedy etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
- Highly organized and responsible
- Capable of working under pressure
- Up to date with trends and developments in database administration
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in database administration and IT Support
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
- Extensive experience with database technologies Oracle, MS SQL,and open-source databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) along with certification is a plus
- Experience with cloud services and DevOps tools is a plus
