Overview

Actuarial Director role at Manulife, based in Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines. A senior leader in the Actuarial Function at MBPS, responsible for managing leaders and high-performing actuary teams to deliver to established standards while overseeing tasks, driving strategic initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a skilled team of actuaries to support the company’s strategic data analysis, risk assessment, and business planning.
  • Provide strong leadership and coaching to actuarial professionals. Allocate and monitor work to ensure timely, accurate completion within timeframes and quality standards.
  • Make decisions regarding employment, compensation, performance appraisals, training and development.
  • Cultivate an innovative environment that supports creativity and high-performance teamwork.
  • Support the business in functional areas such as valuation, asset modeling, experience studies, retirement, and audit.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure precise financial projections, optimal pricing strategies, and effective risk-management solutions.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and mentorship within the team.
  • Drive innovation by staying at the forefront of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology advancements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of actuarial work experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
  • Fellowship designation in SOA, ASP, or other recognized actuarial organizations is preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to build camaraderie across levels and business functions.
  • Results-oriented, able to manage expectations, tight deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Excel, VBA, Access), GGY AXIS, SQL, Qlikview, Python or similar programs.
  • Able to work in an evolving and dynamic environment.
  • Passion to grow and be recognized as a trusted business partner.
  • Amenable to work at UP Ayala Technohub (Quezon City).
  • Amenable to work on a hybrid setup (3x a week onsite).
