About the role
The Industrial Safety Officer is responsible for the strategic implementation, monitoring, enforcement, and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards across REMA TIP TOP (Philippines), Inc. operations, facilities, workshops, project sites, and industrial activities. The position provides professional safety leadership and technical expertise to ensure that all rubber lining, conveyor belt, maintenance, fabrication, installation, servicing, chemical handling, workshop, and other industrial operations are performed in a safe, compliant, environmentally responsible, and operationally efficient manner. The Industrial Safety Officer serves as a key SHEQ authority and safety partner to management, supervisors, employees, contractors, and clients, responsible for identifying and controlling workplace hazards, preventing occupational injuries and illnesses, strengthening safety culture, ensuring regulatory and client compliance, and promoting continual improvement in overall safety performance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continual improvement of RTTPI's Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) programs
- Establish, communicate, and enforce safety standards, procedures, safe work practices, and operational controls
- Lead the systematic identification, assessment, and control of occupational and industrial hazards
- Conduct and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessments, and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Monitor safety performance across workshops, warehouses, facilities, project locations, and industrial operations
- Implement and monitor applicable Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for high-risk activities
- Establish and monitor safe systems for the handling, storage, transportation, use, and disposal of hazardous substances
- Develop and conduct effective Safety Orientations, Toolbox Meetings, Safety Talks, Refresher Training, and Specialized Safety Training
- Conduct thorough incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to determine immediate, underlying, and systemic causes
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled workplace inspections, safety observations, and compliance audits
About you
- Must be at a Safety Officer 3 or higher with at least five (5) years work experience on Project Site
- Amendable to stay-in at the Cebu Office accommodation
- Professional knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), environmental, and industrial safety requirements
- Competency in hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures
- Experience with preparing, writing, and defending Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessments, and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Knowledge of Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems and high-risk activity controls
- Experience in incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Competency in safety training, orientation, and competency assessment
- Experience with safety performance monitoring, reporting, and data analysis
- Knowledge of chemical and hazardous material management systems
- Ability to provide professional safety advice to management and operational teams
- Ability to exercise authority to recommend stop-work intervention where imminent or unacceptable risks are identified
- Must be able to start immediately
