Laboratory Aide

Under direct supervision, provides routine assistance in the performance of laboratory tests and/or research. Cleans, breaks down, and stores laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies as appropriate, and may keep routine records and reports on laboratory results according to established procedures. Responsibilities Transports laboratory materials and/or specimens to and from other laboratories, as required. Prepares standard equipment, facilities, and/or solutions for laboratory experiments, in accordance with detailed procedures and instructions. Cleans, breaks down, and stores laboratory equipment, facilities, and supplies after completion of laboratory exercises, as required. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Qualifications and Requirements Successful completion of junior or senior year of high school No previous experience required, but experience in the laboratory as steward is preferred. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 25 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
