Lead Data Engineer – Role Description As a Lead Data Engineer, you will build and guide the design, development, and optimization of complex data pipelines, ensuring that our data architecture aligns with business requirements. Your responsibilities include: Lead projects and build robust ETL processes for both internal and client data streams. Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and provide technical direction. Own performance, security, and integrity of Boldr’s data systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data‑driven improvements. Develop and optimize scalable ETL processes for internal and client needs. Enhance data architecture for improved performance, scalability, and maintainability. Automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for efficiency. Establish and maintain data quality, security, compliance, and accessibility standards. Document data standards, procedures, and definitions for a consistent ecosystem. Participate in architecture review processes and guide system design decisions. Represent the data and analytics teams as domain experts and translate evolving needs into technical requirements. Enable cross‑functional teams to access and utilize data effectively. You Have 6+ years of data engineering experience with scalable architecture design. 2+ years of guiding or mentoring engineering teams. 4+ years with RESTful services, APIs, workflow tools (Airflow, AWS), and databases (Athena, Glue, Snowflake, Postgres). Proficiency in object‑oriented and functional languages (Python, Java, C++, Scala, PHP). Expertise in ETL/ELT, data integration, and pipeline design. Strong SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka skills; experience with relational and big data systems. Hands‑on cloud data platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure) and warehousing (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake). Knowledge of machine learning infrastructure, streaming, and advanced analytics. Solid understanding of data security, compliance, and best practices. Strategic thinking and passion for data‑driven business decisions. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Balance between hands‑on work and high‑level planning.
