About the Role

As a Software Engineer - React TypeScript Developer at Road Central, you will play a critical role in shaping the digital experiences for all platform users, including carriers, shippers, and drivers. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, you will design, prototype, and refine intuitive interfaces that deliver business value and ensure user satisfaction. This remote role offers the opportunity to contribute to an ambitious Australian start-up from the Philippines, working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

This role is being recruited by Clarke Point, a premier Singapore-based agency dedicated to delivering global recruitment and staffing solutions, ( and is for a long-term, full-time Independent Contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain user-friendly web interfaces using React and component libraries.

• Consume and integrate RESTful APIs into frontend applications and follow accessibility best practices to ensure inclusive user experiences.

• Develop and maintain UI components using modern front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript with frameworks such as React or Vue.js.

• Manage client and server state with tools such as React Context, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or React Query.

• Identify pain points and ensure consistency in visual elements, interaction patterns, and overall user experience across the platform.

• Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to validate design solutions and drive continuous improvement.

• Produce and maintain design documentation, component libraries, and style guides.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather user requirements, map user journeys.

• Integrate designs into the existing Python/Django and AWS-based platform in cooperation with backend engineers.

• Stay current with UI/UX trends, tools, and techniques relevant to the logistics and technology sectors.

Mandatory Criteria

• Experience working as an Independent Contractor for an Australian, American or similar client

• Minimum 3 years software development experience with solid React fundamentals, including components, props/state management, composition, and React Hooks.

• Experience with Material UI v5 (MUI) or similar libraries, including theming, responsive layouts, and component composition.

• Working knowledge with Python and Django.

• Front-end development skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; with expertise in React.js and TypeScript; experience with other frameworks such as Vue.js is a plus. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).

• Good written and spoken English communication skills.

• Experience working in remote or distributed teams.

• Understanding of responsive and adaptive design principles.

• Understanding of modern development practices, including Git (with the ability to resolve merge conflicts), code reviews, testing, and agile workflows.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Django REST Framework (DRF) or building RESTful APIs.

• Ability to consume and integrate REST APIs in frontend applications.

• Exposure to relational databases such as PostgreSQL (or similar).

• Familiarity with Docker and/or cloud services (e.g., AWS).

• Familiarity with React Native for mobile app development.

• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with accessibility (WCAG) compliance.

• Laptop or Desktop Computer – Minimum specifications:

  • Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor (or better)

  • At least 8GB RAM

  • Windows 10 or macOS 11 and above

• Stable Internet Connection – Minimum speed of 25 Mbps (download/upload)

  • Wired (LAN) connection for stability is preferred

  • Backup internet source (e.g., pocket Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot) is a plus

• Clear Audio Equipment –

  • Noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone

  • Clear audio for calls and video meetings

• Working Webcam – Required for virtual meetings and team check-ins

• Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) or access to a backup power source

  • Especially important for areas prone to power outages

• Up-to-date Antivirus or Security Software – To protect company and client data

Compensation Package

This role is for a long-term, full-time Independent Contractor with the following additional perks:

• Philippine Regular Holidays: 100% pay if not worked; 200% pay if worked.

• Philippine Special Non-Working Holidays: Additional 30% pay if worked.

• Vacation Leave: 12 days per year, granted upon successful completion of the probation period.

• Sick Leave: 6 days per year, available annually.

• Health Insurance Allowance: ₱2,500 per month provided toward family health insurance after the probation period.

• Flexible Work Environment: Fully remote, Monday to Friday, aligned with Australian business hours.

Road Central is based in Melbourne, Australia, thus the work hours will follow Melbourne time (GMT +10) with some flexibility.
