Overview

The senior administrator is ultimately responsible for managing the use of wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and organization-specific networks. The senior administrator also takes a high-level overview of information technology needs while managing teams that maintain computer networks, monitor network availability, and collect data to enhance security and reliability.

Responsibilities

1. Network Design and Implementation:

  • Design, deploy, and manage Cisco-based network solutions, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, and firewalls.
  • Implement Palo Alto Networks firewalls, ensuring proper configuration of security policies, VPNs, and threat prevention features.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, documentation, and configurations.

2. Network Security:

  • Configure and manage network security devices, with a focus on Palo Alto Networks\' (SASE) Global Protect Cortex (XDR).
  • Implement and manage intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and other security measures.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic to detect and respond to security incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and policies, including regular audits and vulnerability assessments.

3. Network Management and Monitoring:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact business operations.
  • Manage and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, escalating as needed to resolve complex problems.
  • Perform regular network maintenance tasks, including firmware updates, patch management, and hardware upgrades.

4. Capacity Planning and Performance Optimization:

  • Conduct regular performance assessments to identify areas for improvement and optimize network resources.
  • Plan and execute network expansion projects to accommodate organizational growth and changing business needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure the network meets current and future requirements.
Required Qualifications/ Skills
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience with certifications in the related field.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Security+
  • Network+
  • CCNA CCNP
  • PaloAlto Networks
