Overview

The job is to integrate digital transformation of microfinance operations with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions with that of practical microfinance applications to enhance operational efficiency, improve credit access for underserved populations, and promote sustainable financial inclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strategic Integration of AI: Recommend AI strategies aligned with institutional goals for financial inclusion and sustainability.
  • AI-Based Credit Risk Modeling: Recommend AI-driven models for credit scoring, risk assessment, and borrower profiling using alternative data sources; Collaborate with data scientists to refine predictive algorithms for better lending decisions.
  • Automation and Efficiency: Recommend automation solutions for loan processing, customer onboarding, collections, and compliance monitoring. Evaluate AI-powered tools like chatbots or virtual agents for improved customer engagement. Establish a system to ensure compliance with data protection and financial regulations.
  • Capacity Building: Train microfinance staff on the use and implications of AI tools. Develop frameworks and best practices for integrating technology with community-based finance principles.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting: Liaise with tech providers, donors, and regulators on AI initiatives. Prepare project reports, impact evaluations, and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in microfinance, financial inclusion, or fintech.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML solutions in a financial services context.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive finance, rural lending models, and digital financial services.
  • Experience with data analytics platforms, modeling tools (e.g., Python, R, TensorFlow), and cloud services.
  • Familiarity with ethical AI principles, digital privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
