Overview

Data & Analytics Lead (Dayshift - WFH) at MicroSourcing. The Data & Analytics Lead is responsible for building and leading Modern Star's central Data & Analytics team, driving the adoption of modern data practices, and enabling business transformation through trusted insights. This leadership role oversees a small but highly capable team—including a Data Engineer, Power BI Developer, and Data Analyst—who together will deliver integrated, scalable, and business-aligned data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

As a hands-on leader and strategic partner, the Data & Analytics Lead will shape the enterprise-wide data agenda, cultivate a data-driven culture, and foster collaborative relationships with business units and IT to ensure data becomes a critical asset in decision-making at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a growing team of data professionals, creating an environment of high performance, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Define clear roles, objectives, and growth plans for each team member, aligned with business and personal development goals.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture that values curiosity, ownership, and excellence.
  • Define and execute a strategic roadmap for data and analytics in alignment with business priorities and enterprise architecture.
  • Lead the adoption and refinement of Modern Star's modern data stack (Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Medallion Architecture).
  • Oversee the delivery of data products, dashboards, and insights that support decision-making, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Data & Analytics team and business units across Finance, Sales, Operations, Product, and Marketing.
  • Collaborate with IT, ERP owners, and system architects to ensure robust and secure data pipelines from source to insight.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for data-driven transformation, performance measurement, and automation.
  • Establish and uphold enterprise standards for KPIs, semantic models, metadata, and data access.
  • Promote self-service analytics by enabling teams with curated datasets and training.
  • Champion data literacy and best practices across departments.
  • Manage project prioritisation, capacity planning, and delivery timelines within the team.
  • Monitor data platform performance, data quality, and incident management alongside IT partners.
  • Track analytics adoption, business impact, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline. A post-graduate qualification is desirable.
  • Certifications in data analytics, Azure, Power BI, or data leadership are advantageous.
Experience
  • 5-8+ years' experience in data and analytics roles, including at least 3 years in leadership or team management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional analytics programs that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft data and analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Azure Synapse, Fabric, SQL).
  • Experience building and scaling data capability in a multi-system environment (including legacy and SaaS/PaaS sources).
