Tribal is a leading EdTech company providing software and services to education institutions globally. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Manila development team, supporting EBS, Tribal’s student information system.
The role
You’ll develop and maintain application features using C#/.NET Framework and Angular, including API integrations supporting regulatory reporting for New Zealand education institutions. You’ll work with colleagues to turn requirements into reliable, secure and tested software.
What you’ll do
- Translate user requirements and technical specifications into clear designs and maintainable code.
- Develop and maintain application features and API integrations, following agreed coding standards.
- Investigate defects, identify root causes and assess the impact of changes.
- Write unit tests, participate in code reviews and review test coverage.
- Estimate and prioritise work, document changes and contribute to improvements in development practices.
What you’ll bring
- Commercial software development experience with C# and .NET Framework.
- Experience with REST API design, Git and unit testing, using tools such as NUnit and Moq.
- An understanding of software design principles and secure coding, including XSS prevention and HTML sanitisation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to prioritise work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Around two years’ relevant experience is a guide. We’ll consider your skills and experience rather than treating this as a strict threshold.
Desirable experience
- Angular v15+, TypeScript and RxJS, including component development and client-side testing with Jest or Karma.
- Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow Foundation.
- Git LFS and security analysis tools such as Endor or SonarQube, including SAST/SCA.
- AI tools such as Claude used to support software development.
Location and working hours
The team attends the Manila office twice a month. Remote working can be considered for candidates who live farther away.
Working hours are flexible, with the team usually working 8am–5pm or 9am–6pm.
