Facade Designers

Overview

Façade Designer / Architectural drafter role focusing on managing drafting tasks, coordinating with project teams, and delivering fabrication-ready drawings for façade components.

• Assist Job Captain in managing and leading drafting teams, workload planning, and prioritizing tasks to meet project milestones.
• Coordinate with technical director, project managers, and CAD technicians to understand project requirements and ensure project success.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and glazing contractors to develop detailed façade drawings.
• Review and verify the accuracy and constructability of construction documents.
• Develop detailed drawings for façade components (connections, joints, anchorage systems, interface details) including scope and surrounding structure plans, elevations and sections using CAD software.
• Develop fabrication tickets, tag elevations/plans, and materials take-offs for façade components.
• Conduct quality checks of shop drawings and fabrication tickets to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal/client standards and project requirements.
• Provide technical support and assistance to team members; identify and troubleshoot design issues during drafting and propose solutions to the Job Captain or Project Manager.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of CAD drawings, revisions, and project communications for future reference and auditing purposes.
• Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and CAD technologies related to façade design and drafting.
• Propose improvements to workflows to enhance productivity and quality; contribute to the development of drafting standards for the team.

• Support Job Captain and CAD Technicians.
• Assist CAD Technician 3 and Job Captain in executing drafting tasks, focusing on delivering assigned components of projects.
• Follow guidance from higher-level technicians, Job Captain and Project Managers to manage workload and meet deadlines.

• Coordinate with team members to understand project details and drafting requirements.
• Provide basic technical support and seek guidance on complex issues.
• Prepare basic façade drawings (plans, elevations, sections, and simple details) using CAD software.
• Assist in drafting connections, joints, and simple interface details per guidelines from senior staff.

• Assist in documentation and verification: review construction documents for accuracy and consistency; ensure revisions are properly documented and CAD updates align with project guidelines.

• Support fabrication and tagging processes: tag façade components on plans/elevations under supervision; assist in materials take-off with guidance from senior technicians.

• Ensure drafting standards compliance: follow established drafting standards and internal procedures; participate in quality checks of shop drawings and reports under supervision.

• Learning and development: stay updated on industry practices, CAD software, and façade technologies; seek opportunities to expand knowledge by learning from senior staff.

o Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

o At least 5 years of experience in façade design and project management.

o Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.

o Proficiency in other CAD tools (Revit, Rhino, Inventor, etc.) is a plus.

o Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

o Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
