We are seeking a talented 3D Environment Artist with a passion for world‑building and visual storytelling. In this role, you’ll design, model, and texture compelling game environments that feel alive, authentic, and memorable. Working closely with designers, developers, and other artists, you’ll ensure that our game worlds not only look beautiful but also support gameplay and narrative in powerful ways. You will be the only Environment Artist on staff so you must be highly autonomous and capable in all aspects of 3D modeling, texturing, and level design. Our first project will be a turn‑based RPG with 2D characters and 3D environments. We are targeting a painterly style for the 3D environments. Job Responsibilities and Tasks Create high-quality 3D assets, textures, and environments within the artistic direction of the project. Collaborate with game designers and developers to align visual design with gameplay and storytelling needs. Optimize environments for performance across platforms without compromising artistic vision. Ensure consistency of style and technical quality across all assets and levels. Contribute to the creative vision of the project by bringing new ideas, references, and inspiration. Participate in reviews, accept feedback constructively, and continuously refine your work. Take ownership of tasks, meeting deadlines with accountability and attention to detail. Skills and Qualifications Proven experience as an Environment Artist in game development (portfolio required). Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or similar. Strong texturing and material creation skills using tools like Substance Painter/Designer or equivalent. Talent with a painterly style in 3D environments. Experience with environment implementation in game engines (Godot preferred). Solid understanding of lighting, composition, and environmental storytelling. Ability to optimize assets and environments for performance. Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote team setting. Passion for creating immersive worlds that respect players and elevate gameplay.
