Job descriptionA Radiation Therapy Nurse (RT Nurse) is a vital position in the radiation therapy. They are individuals who provides supportive care to the patients undergoing radiation treatment. It is imperative that they undergo training in nursing, along with a specialist training in oncology. They would need to be well-informed about radiation procedures, in order to assist the patients and relatives with initial fears, other than to clarify misconceptions arising from communications from technical and medical staff. He/she must have sufficient knowledge and skills that should be develop in radiation therapy to accurate assess and intervene. He/she serves as “the cornerstone of patient advocacy, extensive symptom management and patient education regarding complicated treatment regimens”. Can communicate well be. oth in oral and written formf. Must have a know-how in clerical works especially in regards to documentations and recordsg. Must be keen and accurate in assessment and examination of the patient’s declared conditionh. The ability to identify if something is wrong or might go wrong (sensitivity)i.
