Role Overview

This position is a multitasking position crucial to the performance of our inhouse woodshop. The engineer will work with the Shop manager and the CNC programmer to develop shop drawings and work out the engineering of each piece to be built in our shop. The engineering portion of the job requires the modeling of each piece of hardware appliance integrated light plumbing fixture etc. to ensure proper operation and function per the design intent.

The engineer will work closely with the shop manager to problem solve situations where the specification conflicts with the design intent. Then they will work with the shop manager to make sure the drawings are approved by the design team and incorporated into our CNC software Cabinet Vision for fabrication.

The engineer will develop new systems for use of cabinet vision and will create a library of materials used in houses and their properties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dissecting architectural drawings to understand the details of each piece of millwork/Architectural Casework to be built in our shop
  • Create Shop Drawings in AutoCad for all cabinets and millwork to be built. Drawings to conform to the requirements of each project as well as with our internal shop standards and construction methods.
  • Model and engineer all hardware and appliances into each custom piece. Confirm its interaction with adjacent conditions and the design intent.
  • Process shop drawings and related changes in collaboration with the Shop Manager.
  • Once Shop drawings are approved Transfer drawings to Cabinet Vision in conjunction with the inhouse CNC programmer/operator.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 5 years working in architecture design or manufacturing
  • 3 years of experience drawing Custom Millwork and Casework
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCad and Millwork shop drawings
  • Strong knowledge of Cabinet Vision or other Parametric Cad Cam software.
  • Background in architecture and Custom Cabinetry and Millwork.
