Job Responsibilities

• Usually the navigating officer
• Assists the Chief Officer with cargo work
• Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of navigation and electronic
• Aids to navigation in the bridge
• Keeps the middle and afternoon watch
• Assists in docking/undocking, mooring/unmooring, and anchoring as directed by the Master

Job Qualifications

• Physically/Medically fit, including good eyesight and hearing
• Graduate of B.S. in Marine Transportation
• At least one (1) year of experience in seagoing service as Third Mate onboard a seagoing ship of 500 GT or more
• Passed the Second Mate licensure examination
