Health and Safety Officer: Develop and implement health and safety protocols in the workplace, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for employees.

The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating health and safety protocols in the workplace. The role will be responsible for preparing and enforcing policies to establish a health and safety culture and create pro-active solutions to identify and mitigate work-related health and safety risks.

The role will also have direct oversight on the safety protocols in all locations, working with a team of Health and Safety Officers based in various project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearheads the development of strategies and execution of plans on health and safety in the workplace.
  • Provides recommendations, advice, support and guidance on matters related to health and safety management in the event of disease outbreaks, fires, earthquakes, violence and other catastrophic events.
  • Formulates policies, standards and guidelines on work-related health and safety, and ensures compliance with government regulations.
  • Implements, maintains, and ensures compliance with work-based health and safety standards.
  • Assesses and monitors health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace.
  • Develops and conducts basic health counselling and health education programs.
  • Develops and maintains a system of reporting of critical incidents.
  • Manages safety inspections and performs regular field visits to inspect worksite premises.
  • Manages emergency procedures and organizes emergency teams.
  • Responds to safety complaints and concerns raised by employees.
  • Recommends solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of four-year course with specialization in the fields of Nursing, Engineering and Business.
  • At least 8 years of working experience, with considerable exposure to occupational health and safety management.
  • Demonstrated relevant knowledge in handling emergency response situations and crisis management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills.
  • Experience in dealing with senior management.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation capability.
  • Strong leadership capability and a high degree of emotional maturity.
  • Capable of working in hazardous conditions.
  • Willing to do fieldwork.
